Iconica Tertius: The Third Language is Here

The City of Melbourne is now in the process of being re-written in the Third Language of Ludea.  Game players have started to collect ideotags that bear the distinctive sigla of the Micronation of Ludea.  These sigla are the equivalent of your alphabet.  In collecting them, it will be the duty of players to begin the task of decoding them.  In decoding them a secret awaits to be revealed, a secret that the Master Codemaker has been preparing you for since the activation of play.  To reveal this secret you must understand the Third Language.

The Master Codemaker first announced the coming into this world of the Third Language in a post on his blog on 14th August (“Orbiter, It’s Us!“).  He followed this up with a more detailed post on the Third Language on the Urban Codemakers blog on the 9th September (“In search of the Gelded Third Ho“).  Players are urged to revisit both entries to re-acquaint themselves with the principles of the Third Language of Ludea.

But more importantly, the 9th September post contains an image from the archives of Ludea that you will find very familiar indeed.  This familiarity, which links the Third Language to the very origins of the creation of the Gelded Third Ho, will guide you in your forthcoming search through the streets for vital information leading to the discovery of the identity of the true architect of Melbourne.

The number 138

The MasterCodemaker is gratified by the diligence and enthusiasm of those UrbanCodemaking players who have actively sought out the insignia of the Codemakers Guild.

The MasterCodemaker has for some time now been alerting players to the insidious cover-up behind the recent ban on play in the City of Melbourne.  This ban had nothing to do with civic politics or bureaucratic red-tape.  It was nothing less than an instance of the conspiracy to conceal the identity of the One True codemaker responsible for the Gelded Third Ho.

This cover-up would have us believe that Bold Herder Tö designed the Gelded Third Ho many years ago.  For those loyal players following the Codemaking guild, you will soon be privy to vital knowledge (should you maintain your loyalty) of where to find clues to the identity of the real artisan of Melbourne.

And more.  You will be directed on how to find the one true map of the Gelded Third Ho.  It has already been announced in the tags you have been collecting.

Look well upon it.

Visions for the City of Melbourne 2020

The authorities wanted to ban play in urban space so we organised a public demonstration against the ban! On the same day we launched our urban game to rezone the city through play.

And…

Now the City of Melbourne has commissioned the three guilds to develop urban planning proposals for the Melbourne 2020 vision. A new city based on data collected from you. The IDEOTAGs are not placed at random. They trace patterns and paths through the city. Your interaction with them collects data for the ecologist, the urbanist and the codemaker.

Each of these three are now using that data to develop their proposals. Their deadline is January 2011. At the conclusion of the game one of these will be selected and presented to the City of Melbourne. At this stage, with 138 IDEOTAGs claimed, it will be the Master Codemaker whose proposal will be selected. But there is still time…

Participate in this urban design project – all you have to do is play.

Week 4: Portals

Portals. Opening up all over the city.

Connecting one place to the next.

Places for play.

Nodes in the ecology.

Suspending reality in the magic circle.

The Crossmedia Ecologist jumped in early and put up 64 IDEOTAGs in the city today in-between the rain… Each site signifies a portal into another world. Out of reality and into the game. Exploring deep into a multitude of laneways all over the city she has found places that transport players into mixed realities. Back into Ludea.

Many sites tagged by the Master Codemaker have been capped by the Crossmedia Ecologist. Green and orange coexist in some laneways. He remains silent. Almost 100 IDEOTAGs are currently hidden in the city…
